A magistrate court in Kano State, Nigeria, has ignited widespread controversy after ordering TikTok creators Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda to marry within 60 days for allegedly posting “indecent” videos.

The ruling, issued by Magistrate Halima Wali, instructs the Hisbah Board to ensure the marriage is carried out, sparking outrage among human rights advocates and social media users.

Critics argue the judgment violates personal freedoms and highlights the tension between Nigeria’s digital youth culture and the conservative moral codes enforced under Sharia-influenced laws in Kano.
