Not even Kwame Nkrumah’s Independence Day matched this crowd – Sonnie Badu hails Shatta Wale’s Shattafest success

Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher Sonnie Badu has applauded Shatta Wale for what he described as an unprecedented achievement following the success of ShattaFest 2025 held at the Black Star Square in Accra.
In a post shared on Instagram on October 20, 2025, Sonnie Badu praised the massive turnout, claiming that not even Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, witnessed such a crowd during the country’s Independence celebration.
“It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge. @shattawalenima needs to be studied. We all go throw money for ground, feed the streets and they got your back. Paaa paaa paaa! I think Ghana is evolving and soon we will take the centre stage again,” he wrote.
The ShattaFest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls concert saw tens of thousands of fans filling the Independence Square on October 18, with the entire venue packed hours before the event officially began.
The star-studded show featured performances from Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, Darkovibes, DopeNation, and many others.
Running from 4 p.m. till 7 a.m., the concert not only celebrated Shatta Wale’s birthday but also reinforced his status as one of Ghana’s most influential entertainers
