Ivory Coast thrash Ghana 3-0 at WAFU B U-17 Championships

Ivory Coast’s U17 team delivered a dominant display on Tuesday evening, securing a 3-0 win over Ghana in the ongoing WAFU B U17 Championship.
The tournament, hosted by Ivory Coast, also serves as a qualifier for the next U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana’s Black Starlets, who drew 1-1 with Togo in their opening match, required a victory to bolster their chances of advancing.
However, the young Elephants proved too formidable, leveraging pace and precision to outmaneuver their opponents.
The decisive moment occurred in the 18th minute when Robinho Gavi Yao breached Ghana’s defense and scored calmly, giving the hosts the advantage. The Starlets endeavored to equalize but were thwarted by a resilient Ivorian backline prior to the interval.
Following the break, the home team augmented their dominance, adding two goals to secure a convincing victory at Stade Konan Banny. This outcome positions Ivory Coast at the top of Group A with six points from two matches.
For Ghana, this defeat constitutes a significant setback, necessitating a victory over Niger in their final group match to maintain hopes of advancing to the knockout stage.
