Inspector-General of Police Announces Promotion for Junior Personnel

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Yohonu, has announced the promotion of 12 junior police officers.

The beneficiaries comprise chief inspectors, inspectors, sergeants, a corporal, and constables.

At a press conference on September 24, 2025, the IGP stated that the Police Management Board had decided to promote three chief inspectors to the Police Academy, three inspectors to Chief Inspectors, two sergeants to Inspectors, one corporal to sergeant, and three constables to lance corporals.

He indicated that the Police Council was reviewing the promotion of senior officers.

“To the senior officers, the Police Council will make a decision on them.”
