President Mahama departs Ghana for UN General Assembly in New York

President John Dramani Mahama departed Accra for New York, USA, to head Ghana’s delegation to the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, commencing on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The President is slated to deliver Ghana’s address to the General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025. As the African Union’s champion for financial institutions, he will host two prominent side events.
According to a statement released on Sunday, September 21, 2025, President Mahama will engage in crucial bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, heads of state, and global leaders, including the President of the Rockefeller Foundation during his stay. He will also interact with the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce and make history at NASDAQ by ringing the closing bell.
First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama will attend events organized by the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) and deliver the keynote address at a special World Vision International prayer service for children worldwide.
The President’s delegation includes the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh; the Minister for Trade, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare; and other senior officials.
President Mahama and his team are expected to return to Ghana on September 30, 2025.
