Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has urged Ghanaians to keep perspective following the team’s 1-1 draw with Chad in N’Djamena, stressing that modern African football has no “small countries.”

The Black Stars were stunned by a late Chad equaliser, sparking frustration among fans who expected a comfortable win. But Addo insists such results are part of the evolving game.

“For me, in general there are no small countries anymore. Away games in Africa are always very difficult. You will never see big results in away games,” he said.

The coach pointed out that even the strongest sides have struggled to dominate Chad on the road.

“No other country also scored more than two goals away against Chad in general. We did it in the first leg, but away games are different,” Addo explained.

Despite the setback, Ghana remain top of Group I with 16 points, three ahead of Mali and four clear of Comoros. The Black Stars next face Mali in Kumasi on September 8, 2025, in what could prove to be a decisive World Cup qualifying clash.
