"You guys are witches! You love negativity too much." – Akwaboah slams critics

Ghanaian singer Akwaboah has fired back at critics after coming under heavy scrutiny for a picture he recently shared on social media.
On August 22, 2025, the Highlife star posted an image of himself in a loose-fitted outfit, a photo that quickly went viral due to his dramatic weight loss and what many described as a “sickly” appearance. The pose, which appeared intentionally exaggerated, further fueled speculation about his health, sparking widespread debate online.
As expected, netizens did not hold back, flooding the post with negative comments. Responding to the backlash, Akwaboah initially explained that he uploaded the image deliberately to draw attention ahead of his upcoming music release.
But as the criticism grew, he addressed the issue more bluntly in a video sighted by GhanaWeb on August 23, 2025:
“Look at how I am trending, you people love negativity too much. You guys refused to talk about the positive ones, but look at how you spread this particular picture. You guys are witches,” Akwaboah stated.
He went on to emphasize that the viral post was a promotional stunt for his new single Obinim.
“Ghanaians should wake up, my Obinim song will be released soon. I felt like it’s been a while since I heard from Ghanaians, so I decided to share an odd picture of myself and afterwards see the way I am trending,” he added.
