National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has warned fuel stations operating without a legal license that they face immediate closure and potential decommissioning.

This action aims to combat illicit operations in the downstream petroleum sector.

In a statement, the NPA reiterated its mandate under the National Petroleum Authority Act, 2005 (Act 691), as amended, to oversee all commercial activities relating to the storage, distribution, and sale of petroleum products.

The Authority explained that, in accordance with the law, only Ghanaians or foreign entities in registered joint ventures with Ghanaian partners that meet local content and participation requirements are eligible to obtain licenses

The NPA emphasized that under the National Petroleum Authority Act, 2005, all businesses must be licensed to operate legally.

Operators are reminded to display their licenses prominently at their premises and comply with regulatory requirements to avoid sanctions.
