Kumasi-Bechem Highway accident claims two lives, injures several others.

A tragic road accident occurred on the Kumasi–Bechem Highway on Sunday, August 10, 2025, claiming the lives of two Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church members from Aburaso in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti Region.

Several others, including children, sustained serious injuries. The victims were reportedly seated along the roadside when a commercial bus, registered AS 6255-18, crashed violently near their location.

Eyewitnesses attributed the accident to a tyre burst on the moving bus.

One witness, Agyei Boateng Douglas, recounted that immediately after the crash, he and others rushed to assist the victims.

However, they faced difficulty getting the injured to hospital, as passing drivers refused to stop.

Initial attempts to transport the victims to the hospital were met with resistance, as no drivers were willing to provide assistance.

Fortunately, a tricycle driver intervened and facilitated their transportation.

Upon arrival at Adugyama Hospital, two victims, including a church elder, were pronounced deceased. Others in critical condition, including a woman with a neck fracture and her son with a severe head injury, were subsequently transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

The Aburaso SDA Church community is currently grappling with the aftermath of the accident, with police investigations underway.
