The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has confirmed the recovery of the black box from the military helicopter that crashed on Wednesday, 6 August, killing eight people—including two cabinet ministers.
In a social media post on Thursday, Dr Amoakohene announced, “The black box has been found,” marking a major breakthrough in efforts to uncover the cause of the deadly crash.
The flight data recorder, which typically holds key flight and cockpit communication data, was recovered from the crash site at Sikaman Brofoyedu in the Adansi Akrofuom District.
Investigators believe it will offer critical insights into why the Z-9 Ghana Armed Forces helicopter went down while en route to Obuasi.
The Ghana Armed Forces and aviation experts are currently analysing the contents to determine the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
