UK-based Ghanaian artist Fuse ODG has opened up about feeling overlooked in the global Afrobeats conversation, despite being one of its early pioneers.

Speaking on Y102.5FM with NY DJ, the Antenna hitmaker admitted it’s frustrating to not receive the recognition he deserves:

“A thousand per cent. Everybody will be bothered… but I know I have a bigger purpose than what people say.”

Fuse stressed that his focus is not just on accolades, but on telling Africa’s story truthfully and promoting Black empowerment through music.

He said his latest album Spirit of New Africa is part of that mission — to reclaim African identity and remind the continent of its power: “Sometimes the biggest contributors don’t get their credit… but it’s a marathon.” From “54 Countries” to “Sundiata,” the artist is intentional about using his sound to reshape narratives, adding, “Eventually, the world will get to know.”
