FIFA has formally validated the fixture dates for the forthcoming round of the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers, with the Black Stars poised to confront Chad and Mali in September.

These matches are pivotal for Coach Otto Addo’s squad as they endeavor to secure a position at the global tournament. Ghana will launch the September window with an away match against Chad on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The match against Chad will be staged at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno in N’Djamena, commencing at 13:00 GMT. Ghana will then return home to Accra to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT.

Ghana’s home venue for the qualifiers has been confirmed as the only CAF-approved stadium in the country, replacing previous venues like the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Black Stars currently top Group I with 15 points from six matches, having secured five wins and one loss, positioning them as leaders in the qualification race.

Comoros follows closely in second place with 12 points, while Madagascar trails behind in third place with 10 points, as the competition for World Cup qualification intensifies.

The upcoming September fixtures are critical for Ghana to consolidate their lead.

In October, Ghana will participate in the final round of qualifying matches, aiming to secure their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The forthcoming matches will decide whether the Black Stars can maintain their top spot in the group and confirm their participation in the tournament set to take place in Canada, the USA, and Mexico next year.

Coach Otto Addo and his team have expressed confidence ahead of these pivotal fixtures, utilizing their current standing to drive their qualification bid.

The football community in Ghana eagerly anticipates the September matches as the nation looks forward to returning to football’s biggest stage after a determined qualifying campaign.
