Ato Essien has been granted GHS10m bail pending appeal.
The Court of Appeal has granted bail pending appeal to William Ato Essien, founder of the defunct Capital Bank, following a ruling on Wednesday, July 30.
The court granted bail to Ato Essien in the sum of GHS10 million with two sureties.
He is to deposit his passport at the court’s registry and also report once a month to the Registrar of the Court.
Essien was jailed for 15 years in 2023 by the Accra High Court for stealing over GHS90 million belonging to the bank.
