California law enforcement officials arrested a registered sex offender after he allegedly engaged in lewd behavior by sniffing a woman’s buttocks at a department store.

Calese Carron Crowder, aged 38, was apprehended last Tuesday in response to reports of a suspicious person loitering around the women’s section at a Nordstrom Rack situated in the Burbank Empire Center. According to witnesses, the suspect had already vacated the area upon the officers’ arrival.

Police searched through the shopping center and found Crowder inside a nearby Walmart.

Investigators say surveillance camera footage from the Nordstrom Rack showed Crowder crouching near a woman and sniffing her buttocks. He was charged with one count of loitering with intent to commit a crime.

Police say Crowder is a registered sex offender who was on parole and has a history of similar arrests for lewd conduct since 2021.

Michaela Witter is one of Crowder’s alleged past victims. She recorded him allegedly sniffing her while at a Barnes & Noble in Burbank and posted the video to TikTok.

“I feel like the justice system is just neglecting everything,” Witter said. “It’s crazy to think that someone like this, who’s constantly stalking and violating these people, is allowed to be out and about.”

Crowder is being held on a $100,000 bail and is expected to appear in court Friday.
