The world may be miles away, but the legacy of Daddy Lumba knows no borders.

Following the heartbreaking news of his passing on July 26, 2025, Afrobeats megastar Davido paused his 5ive Alive world tour to honour the Highlife legend during a sold-out show in Toronto, Canada.

In viral footage from the concert, Davido’s DJ dropped Lumba’s timeless hit “Aben Wo Ha”, sending the crowd into a frenzy as fans passionately sang along. The moment was a powerful blend of nostalgia, celebration, and continental respect.

Originally released in 1998, Aben Wo Ha stirred both love and controversy for its cheeky lyrics and bold rhythm. Despite public calls for a ban, Ghana’s National Commission on Culture upheld it as a culturally significant masterpiece. The track went on to win Song of the Year at the 2000 Ghana Music Awards, becoming one of Lumba’s most iconic records.

Davido’s tribute joins a chorus of voices — including tributes from former President John Mahama and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia — all mourning the loss of a musical giant whose influence echoed far beyond Ghana.

Rest well, Daddy Lumba. Your sound lives on. 🎶
