I don’t get why Ghanaians have a problem with me begging Sarkodie – Awal

Ghanaian rapper, Awal Dexta has opened up about the criticism he received after publicly apologizing to Sarkodie during a recent interview.
According to him, he doesn’t understand why Ghanaians are making an issue out of it. He emphasized that culturally, saying “sorry” or “thank you” is a sign of humility and respect not weakness and as such, there should be no shame in doing so.
Awal explained that over the years, there had been lingering public perception that he may have disrespected Sarkodie in some way.
Although he was unsure what exactly caused the rift, he decided to take full responsibility and apologize regardless—whether knowingly or unknowingly. To him, it was more important to clear the air and restore peace than to let assumptions fester.
He also clarified that the apology wasn’t his primary intention during the interview. He had gone there to promote his new song, but Sarkodie’s name came up in the conversation, prompting him to address it.
Awal said he acted in the moment, guided by respect and the desire to move forward without any baggage.
