I believed in you when people doubted you – Sarkodie praises fellow rapper Edem

Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie has paid glowing tribute to fellow rapper Edem, recounting their very first encounter and how he instantly recognized Edem’s greatness.

In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on July 23, 2025, Sarkodie revealed that after meeting Edem for the first time, he immediately told his friends that Edem was destined to shake up the music scene.

“Undoubtedly one of the greatest albums in Ghana’s music history!!! I remember when I first encountered my brother @iamedem. I came back home to tell one of my hommies that this guy will have a serious impact on the music scene,” he wrote.

However, not everyone saw what Sark did.

“He was like ‘naa’ because of the language barrier. I said I don’t hear language, I hear greatness!!!”

Sarkodie further described Edem as one of his favorite emcees in Ghana, despite the early doubts others had due to Edem’s heavy use of Ewe in his music.

“Big up my brother, you’re still on my fav mcee list,” he added.

Sark’s post not only highlighted Edem’s influence but also served as a reminder that talent transcends language — especially in music.
